Posing Guide for Couples – Vancouver BC
For couples young and old, photoshoots offer the chance to express their individuality and share their stories with the people they love. According to a 2015 survey conducted by The Knot, 38% of couples share photos of their engagement within minutes or hours of popping the question.
At a time where most of our photos end up lost in the cloud or on our phones, a professional photoshoot serves as a timeless, enduring reminder of cherished memories. It’s hardly any wonder that the couples photography genre is thriving. The Subtle.Photo team has put together this cogent guide to cute couple poses for your photoshoot. There’s something in here for everyone–from the classic to the cutting-edge.
Preparation
As most people are not comfortable in front of a camera, it helps to prepare your couples in advance. Send them helpful suggestions on location or photo/video overview of your the indoor studio you wish to use. Especially newly engaged couples, they have much on their mind and will benefit with organization and preparation before you stick the camera in front of them. Have your couples search Google, IG or Pinerest to find samples of what they are hoping to accommplish. If they are hoping to obtain serious and dramatic photos that is helpful for the photographer so they are prepared in advance. No need to show them goofy and quirky poses if they are looking for serious and dramatic.
Accessories and Props
I always like to suggest for the couple to prepare for the weather and bring accessories like scarfs, sunglasses, jackets, shoes, boots, umbrellas, bouquet of flowers, etc.
This couple changed 3 times for their Yaletown, Vancouver BC photoshoot.

Hugs from Behind
This is done best if the person in front doesn’t know when the other person is going to hug them from behind. With some luck you can capture the moment of surprise from the person in front.
